On 18 November, the Bureau for Integration and Social Innovations (BISI) organised a dissemination and awareness-raising event within the framework of the Erasmus+ project FRAMe Health – Fostering Resilience Against Misinformation in Health. The event brought together 26 participants, including adults aged 55+, local stakeholders, community representatives, and civic activists interested in health literacy, misinformation, and digital resilience.
The event aimed to promote the objectives and activities of the FRAMe Health project, raise awareness about the importance of health literacy, and encourage critical reflection on the growing impact of misinformation and disinformation on health-related decision-making and wellbeing. Participants were also introduced to the educational modules and practical learning resources currently being developed within the project.
Particular attention was given to older adults, identified within the project as one of the groups most vulnerable to online misinformation due to lower digital readiness and difficulties in navigating complex online health information environments.
During the event, experts presented the main concepts related to health literacy, including the importance of accessing, understanding, evaluating, and using reliable health information. Discussions also focused on the phenomenon of the “infodemic” and the role of social media in spreading emotionally manipulative and misleading health-related content. Through practical examples and real-life cases, participants reflected on how misinformation circulates online and influences perceptions and behaviour.
The session created an open and interactive environment in which participants shared personal experiences and concerns related to misinformation encountered online and in everyday life. Discussions highlighted the need for practical, accessible, and visually oriented educational materials, especially for adults with lower digital skills.
The event contributed to strengthening awareness of health literacy as an essential life competence and promoted dialogue between citizens, experts, and community actors on the importance of informed decision-making, prevention, and resilience to misinformation.
