What priorities will citizens have in 20 years? What will spaces for citizen dialogue look like in the future? Will global issues such as climate change, digitalisation and human migration make us more collaborative? How far will citizenship extend – to small communities like city-states or to a Europe of citizens? As corporations grow in power and reach, should we expect citizenship in the future to be linked to corporations that can provide security, healthcare and a sense of community? Or could we see the emergence of virtual states and virtual citizens? Who will be included or excluded from those communities and processes? Will the new digital technologies make it easier for citizens to participate in the European policy-making process and what measures need to be taken to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard?
If these issues are of interest to you professionally or personally, the Bureau for Integration and Social Innovation invites you to join other citizens in conversation on the future of Europe. Together, we will search for possible answer and will outline scenarios, generate innovative ideas and solutions for better social inclusion. We will also reflect on how to move from thinking to practicing active citizenship.
The event is held within the Citizen Foresight EU project, which aims to promote citizen engagement and participation in shaping new visions for the future of Europe. The project seeks to strengthen democratic participation, foster unity across different segments of society, and uphold the values and rights associated with the principles of EU integration and citizenship.
