The first CONSOLIDAT Training on 6 March 2025 focused on understanding the target group of migrant women, specific challenges, and overview of relevant legal frameworks for effective, inclusive, and sustainable integration at the local level. Speakers and experts discussed important issues, like EU and national frameworks to strengthen equality between women and men in EU policymaking, highlighting the need for attention to women and girls in the asylum and migration area, and to the intersection of different grounds of discrimination. In addition, participants shared methodologies for activities engaging migrant women. A major issue for cities and local authorities is the identification of working solutions to promote better integration of migrant women in workplaces and communities in host countries. Discussions also highlighted the need of strategies to enhance the political engagement of young migrant women, including capacity-building techniques and guidance on navigating international frameworks like CEDAW.
The training provided valuable insights into building local integration strategies tailored to the needs of migrant women, suggesting the important factors to consider, with some examples of good practice to inspire actors on the ground.
