CONSOLIDATE PEER REVIEW IN ATHENS

Experts from Sofia, Fuenlabrada and Milan, representatives from MigrationWork, the European Network of Migrant Women and EUROCITIES visited Athens for a three-day peer review of its policies and practices of labour market integration of refugees and migrants. The visit was design to help bring fresh perspectives from peers with similar experiences but from outside the city, bring ideas of what has worked in their city, and make suggestions for change.

The hosts with the KEM (Center for Migrants) brought toghether a variety of stakeholders – national authorities, NGOs, social economy actors, migrant organizations, for an exchange with the European counterparts.

At the end of the visit, peer reviewers made recommendations for change based on evidence gathered during the visit to political leads and senior managers, which then feed into an action plan drawn up by the host city with MigrationWork and Eurocities support.

The  CONSOLIDATE project was launched in March 2024 with the goal to support cities’ development by helping them reflect on and then develop best practices. BISI is the Bulgarian project partner, aiming to help Sofia municipality with effective labour market integration for refugees and other newcomers.
