DELIBERATING THE FUTURE OF EUROPE

Citizen Foresight EU aims to foster citizen engagement, inclusivity, and forward-thinking dialogue to envision a desirable future for Europe. In an era marked by rapid technological advancements, social transformations, and global challenges, it is crucial to involve citizens in shaping the future of their continent. The project recognizes the need to tap into diverse perspectives, innovative methodologies, and shared aspirations to develop policies that promote sustainable development, social cohesion, and democratic values. By engaging citizens and utilizing future search methods, the project seeks to strengthen democratic processes, enhance European identity, and address pressing issues facing the continent. We aim to promote citizens’ and CSOs’ participation in and contribution to the democratic and civic life of the European Union by making known and publicly exchanging their views in eight areas on Union action by debating and co-creating policy recommendations for a better future of Europe.

The project addresses the following objectives:

• Promoting Citizens’ Engagement and Participation: The project focus is to facilitate citizen engagement by providing them with opportunities to actively participate in envisioning the future of Europe. Through debates, workshops, and inclusive dialogues, citizens are empowered to contribute to the democratic and civic life of the Union.
• Protecting and Promoting Rights and Values: The project promotes the rights and values enshrined in the Treaties and the Charter of Fundamental Rights by advocating for inclusivity, diversity, gender equality, and non-discrimination throughout its activities.
• Supporting Civil Society and Stakeholders: The project engages civil society organizations, stakeholders, and citizens across different levels, creating a platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange. It fosters relationships between citizens and relevant actors to collectively shape Europe’s future.
• Encouraging Civic and Democratic Participation: The project’s debates and discussions encourage citizens to actively participate in shaping policies and decisions related to Europe’s future, thereby enhancing civic and democratic participation.
• Sustaining Inclusive Societies: By promoting inclusivity, embracing diverse perspectives, and engaging marginalized groups, the project contributes to sustaining and developing open and inclusive societies.
• Practical Link with Policymaking: The project’s policy recommendations and outcomes offer a practical link with the policymaking process, providing policymakers with insights directly derived from citizen input.
• Boosting Citizens’ Awareness: The project increases citizens’ awareness of their rights and EU values through educational activities, informed discussions, and the sharing of reliable information.
• Strengthening Democratic Participation: The project’s participatory approach and innovative methods empower citizens to actively engage in democratic processes, thereby strengthening democratic participation.
• Enabling Effective Communication: The project serves as a bridge between citizens and policymakers.
